End of Month FAV Memes to Share in Between doing the Shopping, Cooking, Cleaning & Celebrating the Holidays!

^^^ Shopping, Cooking, Cleaning, Celebrating & Sharing Memes!

Main Stream Media is anxious to get to sucking up air time divining the 2016 Presidential Election. The GOP is anxious to get their voters to the poll re the 2016 Presidential Election. For Democrats both are distractions from supporting President Obama’s Agenda in the here and now and from doing what we can do to get his back and to, sometimes, even inform him as well!

The President has always asked us to share our thinking with him and to lobby him when we feel we need to ~ we just, in my humble opinion, need to do it in a way that is respectful of him and the Party he leads, i.e., not banging the Democratic brand or the office of the presidency.

I’m just as busy as the next person over the next many weeks but Democrats really need to keep front and center and remind the electorate that we are not abandoning a key aspect of the work which is to move the Truth about the President’s Agenda across as many platforms as possible.

It’s actually a two-for-one deal if we think about it: Supporting the President’s Agenda informs the voter and gives the voter a reason to vote.

** Below, please find some of my favorite end of the month memes that might serve the purpose ~ some old and some new ~ including the first one re the United States Post Office which asks that an action be taken to rescue it from the clutches of the GOP and Vulture Capitalism.

You should feel free to re post them all, as well as to share your favorites in the comments section and I will move them out!!!

^^^ Did I mention GOP and budget?

^^^ Even if you don't decide to randomly post this one it's a good one to have on hand to respond to Libertarians without having to converse. (Courtesy of Americans Against the Libertarian Party.)

Reflecting a Bit More Deeply Before the New Year, Supporting the President's Agenda & Moving Forward...

^^^ Reflecting in a Violet Hour courtesy of: Serenity in the Garden

In the aftermath of the November 4, 2014 election, I’m feeling like I want to go dark until January 2, 2015 but I can’t and I can’t because anti-U.S. Government GOP has been/will be working 24/7 to destroy President Obama’s Agenda and to throw the proverbial baby out with the proverbial bath water and create their dream land (or 50 of them, I should probably say…)

Having said that, I am action oriented, I am reflection oriented and once the reflection is done I am action oriented again.
The problem for me after November 4th has been ~ what to reflect on before taking action again?

Like many, I had done everything in my power to give President Obama (and the next Democratic President, be it a she or a he) a Congress he could work with but my desired outcome was not attained.

Frankly, I’m not sure why. I get the litany of strategic and tactical reasons listed by both parties this year and in previous years and I am not interested in rehashing them here.  But. What I don’t get is why we don’t win. I mean really ~ why don’t we win? If we have the numbers we should be capable of overcoming the strategies and the tactics. Shouldn’t we?

So, I decided to reflect on three of the biggest Democratic losers in recent time: Former Vice President Al Gore, Former Senator John Kerry and Former Senator Hillary Clinton and to ponder more deeply why some of the best we have to offer have been rejected.

Heads up! I cannot provide the answer. It simply has not come to me yet but if anything clicks in my mind you-all will be the first to know.

What I am going to do, though, is to ask you-all to take a few hours of your time and listen to these Leaders of our Party (past and present) and to do your own contemplation and ~ perhaps ~ share your answers with me!

So, let’s reflect on one speech per person ~ not wallow ~ and move on better informed today than we were yesterday come the New Year:

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore

Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance speech December 2007

Former U.S. Senator John Kerry

Remarks at the Transformational Trends Forum November 2014

Former U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton

Remarks on American Leadership January 2013

I so look forward to hearing serious thoughts.

Thank you!

How difficult can it be to Banish one Party from power (GOP) & keep another party in power (Democratic) ?

Well, it seems it can be quite difficult for many to banish the GOP anti-U.S. government haters from power as long as one keeps one's focus on potential 2016 Democratic candidates who might collaborate with the rich, all of whom are perceived to be pigs, BTW, while one is doing nothing to address the real issue which is a system that demands Big Money in elections.

Neither Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton are the real issue of course but, hey...

A whole lot of issues above and below are wrapped up in a proverbial ball but I'm not going there. Individuals need to do their own homework and have a conversation with their own selves because the fact is we have what we have because we The People voted for it whether we actually, physically cast a GOP ballot or whether we actually, physically did not cast a ballot ... all the same thing from where I sit.

Without going into great detail the truth is 2010 got us a majority GOP House and 2014 added a majority GOP Senate:

Having said that, it's time to stop using time and energy and skills to complain and to learn the basics, to participate in the system, to run for office and/or to find and elect the best candidates, as well as to recognize that harm done will not be undone in one election cycle ~ Methinks.

And please, do not tell me "they" do this and "they" do that and "they" don't do this and "they" don't do that because we are the Democratic Party and we make choices all along the way. Are there obstacles? You bet there are obstacles. But obstacles are not overcome via perpetual election losses.

Although, all I've needed to know since 2011 is that the GOP is anti-U.S. government and needs to be banished from power to vote a straight Democratic ticket there are some old snippets of information I have gleaned from my reading that the GOP has merely confirmed that may be of interest.

One:

The last paragraph of the introduction to the 2008 Democratic Platform

"This is the essence of what it means to be a patriot: not only to declare our love of this nation,
but to show it –by our deeds, our priorities, and the commitments we keep.
If we choose to change, just imagine what we can do. What makes America great has never
been its perfection, but the belief that it can be made better. And that people who love this
country can change it. This is the country of Abraham Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, Martin
Luther King Jr., Cesar Chavez, and Rosa Parks – people who had the audacity to believe that
their country could be a better place, and the courage to work to make it so. And this Party
has always made the biggest difference in the lives of the American people when we
summoned the entire nation to a common purpose.
We have a choice to make. We can choose to stay the current failed course. Or we can
choose a path that builds upon the best of who and what we are, that reflects our highest values.
We can have more of the last eight years, or we can rise together and create a new kind of
government. The time for change has come, and America must seize it."

Two:

The last paragraph of the introduction to the 2008 GOP Platform

With gratitude for eight years of honorable
service from President George W. Bush and Dick
Cheney, the Republican Party now stands united
behind new leadership, an American patriot, John
McCain. In support of his candidacy and those of
our fellow Republicans across the nation ó and ever
grateful to Almighty God for the political, religious,
and civil liberties we enjoy ó we, the representatives
of the Republican Party in the states and territories
of the United States, offer this platform to the
American people.

( ^^^ Frankly, that was all I needed to hear to know I wasn't going to risk a GOP regime via any strategy that was not focused on winning. )

A bit of an elaboration on the Platforms can be found below:

This one you are going to have to click on and read for yourself but it is only one page of clear, brief excepts comparing some key points between the two Platforms:

Party Platforms/Courtesy of the New York times. Following are excerpts from the Democratic and Republican Platforms:

Finally, let's talk process just a bit and understand that it is The People who are the process and if The People want to make change The People have to be a part of the.

At a most simple level ~ the presidential election:

"The basic process of selecting the President of the United States is spelled out in the U.S. Constitution.

The President and Vice-President are elected every four years. They must be at least 35 years of age, they must be native-born citizens of the United States, and they must have been residents of the U.S. for at least 14 years.

How political parties choose their candidates is up to the political parties.

Most political parties hold conventions, which are large meetings attended by "delegates." Some delegates are selected by state "primary" elections, some are selected by state caucuses (very much like primaries, except with public voting instead of secret ballots), and some are chosen for their prominence in the party. A majority of delegate votes is needed to win the party's nomination. In most cases, the delegates let their chosen presidential candidate select a vice-presidential candidate.

In the general election, each candidate for President runs together with a candidate for Vice-President on a "ticket." Voters select one ticket to vote for; they can't choose a presidential candidate from one ticket and a vice-presidential candidate from another ticket.

The national presidential election consists of a separate election in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia; in these 51 elections, the voters are really voting for "electors" pledged to one of the tickets. These electors make up the "Electoral College." (In most cases, the names of the electors aren't written on the ballot; instead the ballot lets voters choose among "Electors for" each of the tickets, naming the presidential and vice-presidential candidates each slate of electors is pledged to.)

Each state has the same number of electors as it has senators and representatives (there are two senators from each state, but the number of representatives depends on the state population in the most recent census). The District of Columbia, although it isn't a state, also participates in presidential elections -- it currently has three electors.

The People in Each State Vote for Electors in the Electoral College. In most of the states, and also in the District of Columbia, the election is winner-take-all; whichever ticket receives the most votes in that state (or in D.C.) gets all the electors. (The only exceptions are Maine and Nebraska. In these states, just two of the electors are chosen in a winner-take-all fashion from the entire state. The remaining electors are determined by the winner in each congressional district, with each district voting for one elector.)

The Electoral College then votes for President and for Vice-President, with each elector casting one vote; these votes are called electoral votes. Each elector is pledged to vote for particular candidates for President and Vice-President. In most elections, all the electors vote in accordance with the pledge they made; it is not clear what would happen in the unlikely event that a large number of electors violated their pledge and voted differently.

Normally, one of the candidates for President receives a majority (more than half) of the electoral votes; that person is elected President. That candidate's vice-presidential running mate will then also receive a majority of electoral votes (for Vice-President), and that person is elected Vice-President.

In the rare event that no presidential candidate receives a majority of the electoral votes, then the President is chosen instead by the House of Representatives, from the top three presidential vote-getters in the Electoral College; each state delegation in Congress casts one vote. (The Vice-President would be chosen from the top two vice-presidential vote-getters by the Senate.)

Does it really work this way?

Yes. There are many arguments pro and con the Electoral College, but this system does guarantee that the person elected President has substantial support distributed throughout the U.S. The Electoral College has also been a major factor in the United States' long-term political stability."

Of course there is always more to be learned so just hit GOOGLE to fill in any gaps!

Let’s Keep it Simple Democrats ~ We All Signed on to the same Platform: D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T

And the beat goes on ...

Or maybe not, because the "Democratic Leadership," according to some, was/is unable to meet what, in the real world, amounts to fantasy the minute the Constitution and the rules and the environment and things like that come into play. But let's think this through for just a moment because:

I find it so ironic that the GOP is fighting so hard to dismantle the United States of America in favor of 50 sovereign states and, at the same time, some Democrats are fighting just as hard to dismantle the Democratic Party and the best advice that comes to my mind comes from Ben Franklin: We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately, in the context of birthing the nation.

Let’s just all sit with that a bit, shall we?

Having said that, as the shock and awe of the November 4th losses wears off, it seems it would be wise for all Democrats to re-read the 2012 DemocraticPlatform and reflect and decide if we can all hang together, or … hang separately as, assuredly, we will.

Excerpts for your quick reading pleasure:

Now that we are done with that ~ if we can just view our potential candidates for our nominee in the 2016 presidential race as depicted below we'll be a whole lot better off:

BIG P.S.: For all intents and purposes Bernie is a Democrat in my book. He super majority votes with Democrats and he sits on Democratic Committees and that's enough for me. Perhaps when/if he declares we will know for sure but 'til then ...

V-O-T-E on the 4th! Then: Clear the Air and Begin Anew...

Being a good citizen is not a spectator sport, so that means whatever happens on Election Day it becomes all about adapting and keeping on moving forward (not backward!) for me.

But, before going there ^^^ ... we all have our own work to do to make a smooth transition! My work includes an after November 4th Sacred Native Tradition “smudging” to clear the air, which I am going to share with you a bit further on.

In the meantime, my sister has a favorite expression I have come to depend on at the end of of a work in progress that I just have to stop "perfecting":

It’s Christmas morning, the presents are under the tree and there is no time left to do another thing. We, as Democrats will arrive at that place when the polls close on Tuesday.

About a week before any Election Day, my brain begins to mentally prepare for the transition to come:

“Do all you can until the polls close and then it is Christmas morning,” a small voice in my head says. As a result, I  gradually being to process, while still working my backside off for my party because, as someone once said ~ it ain’t over ‘til it’s over, ESPECIALLY in any runoff races that may result! It's not pretty, but processing rarely is!

First, after a moment of grief, for I always lose something,  I re-accept my role as a participating  citizen who believes in the system and who recognizes systems are only as good as the people who run them and, win or lose, I do not stop working to hold my elected officials accountable and/or to continue to elect the best people into public office possible.

Second, 2016 begins to, sporadically, flash in the back of my mind a bit more forcefully.

Third, while at rest, in the back of said mind, I begin to imagine updated social media profiles and profile photos.

Fourth, while asleep, I sort out my thinking and begin to find my focus:

The Democratic Platform? Educating the electorate? Educating main stream media?  The Democratic Nomination/To be immediately followed by the Democratic Candidate and Getting Out the Vote? All of the above?

Fifth, and last but not least, before the weekend following the election has passed ~ I am quietly actively preparing for the next one…

Oh, and as an aside, I will admit, it does sadden me that I no longer feel I can say, broadly, may the best person win because nearly half of our electorate has become so balled up with anti-government sentiment, ignorance, hate, and lies, etc.,  the best is often no longer the deciding factor in this country.

Now, for the after November 4th "smudge," which I, by the way, do mentally but you can do any way you'd like to, of course!

I invite you to join me for a brief Ritual of Smudging and/or of clearing of the air after a hard fought political campaign and election – mentally envisioning clearing away all negative energy from the past months. Sage is typically used to drive negative energy out of one’s space. (And many of us have come up against a lot of that!) Close your eyes. Picture a fire proof bowl, a sage stick, and a gentle feather; Picture lighting up the sage and using the feather to direct the smoke away from you, sending the negative energy with it; Picture breathing in and exhaling out the fresh, new air you've made room for in your space; Picture carefully extinguishing the sage stick in its fireproof bowl; Picture gathering up your strength and ~ move forward when you are ready!

May we all win in 2014 and may we all come back and win some more in 2016!
