In
the aftermath of the November 4, 2014 election, I’m feeling like I want to go
dark until January 2, 2015 but I can’t and I can’t because anti-U.S. Government
GOP has been/will be working 24/7 to destroy President Obama’s Agenda and to throw
the proverbial baby out with the proverbial bath water and create their dream
land (or 50 of them, I should probably say…)
Having
said that, I am action oriented, I am reflection oriented and once the
reflection is done I am action oriented again.
The problem
for me after November 4th has been ~ what to reflect on before taking action again?
Like
many, I had done everything in my power to give President Obama (and the next
Democratic President, be it a she or a he) a Congress he could work with but my
desired outcome was not attained.
Frankly,
I’m not sure why. I get the litany of strategic and tactical reasons listed by both
parties this year and in previous years and I am not interested in rehashing
them here. But. What I don’t get is why
we don’t win. I mean really ~ why don’t we win? If we have the numbers we should
be capable of overcoming the strategies and the tactics. Shouldn’t we?
So, I
decided to reflect on three of the biggest Democratic losers in recent time:
Former Vice President Al Gore, Former Senator John Kerry and Former Senator
Hillary Clinton and to ponder more deeply why some of the best we have to offer
have been rejected.
Heads
up! I cannot provide the answer. It simply has not come to me yet but if
anything clicks in my mind you-all will be the first to know.
What
I am going to do, though, is to ask you-all to take a few hours of your time
and listen to these Leaders of our Party (past and present) and to do your own contemplation
and ~ perhaps ~ share your answers with me!
So,
let’s reflect on one speech per person ~ not wallow ~ and move on better informed today than we were
yesterday come the New Year:
Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore
Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance
speech December 2007
Former U.S. Senator John Kerry
Remarks at the Transformational Trends Forum November 2014
Former U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton
Remarks on American Leadership January 2013
Remarks on American Leadership January 2013
I so look forward to hearing serious thoughts.
Thank you!
G.

Were those speeches supposed to be hot linked in your post?
ReplyDeleteYes. You should be able to click on each video and watch them. I just went in to test them and they worked for me, but I think I'll get the links and add them to the post in case anyone has a problem. Thanks.
